Description
I think most of us think of Poe when we see crows (actually it was a raven) and his word, Nevermore. This murder of crows was sitting atop these branches with the moon in the perfect spot. It was late afternoon at our home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
We were just getting out of the car and I heard them doing their usual squawking. I ran inside, scrambling to get my camera, hoping they would still be sitting there when I returned. They were.
Crows are interesting birds, crazy smart and that in itself makes them a tad bit creepy. A group of crows is called a "murder", surely meant to add to the creepy factor. Crows are so intelligent that when there is a mean human, they will teach other crows not to like that particular human. So you never know what they are thinking as they look down on you.
Sometimes a murder can be enormous. I saw one that had thousands, if not 10s of thousands. It was creepy the height of creepiness. Lesson we should all learn, NEVER be mean to a crow. That's the stuff of scary movies.
