Description
The wild roosters of Kauai, Hawaii are seen everywhere. They are a mainstay on the Garden Island of Kauai. It's not certain how they got here. Some believe they were domesticated chickens that got loose during hurricane Inikki and then mated with another wild fowl brought to the island by the Polynesians. Others believe that these roosters are descendents of the bird actually brought to Kauai by the Polynesians. I really have no idea, but I do know that I have seen them on the island of Kauai long before Hurricane Inikki. I love them, they so colorful. There are always little flocks of baby chicks following their mama. I hope they never go away.
Don't miss my other wild Rooster, called Strut. He's a beauty.
