Description
A frigid morning on the Flight Deck in New Mexico at Bosque Del Apache waiting for the arrival of the Snow Geese. It was dark and it was cold, but then the sun began to paint the sky in deep shades of purple and orange as we anticipated the arrival of the Snow Geese. Having never seen this before, we were unsure of what to expect.
The Bosque Del Apache has long been a rendezvous point and sanctuary for the majestic white snow geese. Then it happened. In a harmonious cloud formation the snow geese appeared on the horizon and into the most glorious sunrise. Wings outstretched they filled the painted sky. The atmosphere was palpable as others looked on at this incredible sight.
As they descended onto the frozen flight deck the sound of their excitement was evident as the 1000s of snow geese honked in a unified song. As they settled onto the ice their voices became silent, all that could be heard was the ruffle of feathers. After their long migratory journey they were finally able to rest. It was almost like a sacred moment, a cycle of the beauty of nature.
Fine art photography of nature at its very best.
